Day 4 of the Shooting Competition at National Games started with the 25m Standard Pistol and 10m rifle events. Olympian shooter Vijay Kumar continued his dominance after he added two more medals to his personal tally.
25m Standard Pistol
After winning two Gold Medals on Day 3, Vijay Kumar of Services snatched another Gold Medal in the 25m Standard Pistol Team competition. Vijay secured the top spot with a score of 1695 , followed by Punjab’s Gurpreet Singh who scored 1675 points and Madhya Pradesh’s Omkar Singh at 1668 points.
Services excelled in the individual events as well. Gurpreet Singh clinched a Gold medal after securing 572 points while Vijay Kumar won Bronze with 565. The Silver medal went to Madhya Pradesh’s Mahendra Singh who had a final tally of 568 points.
Service’s Chain Singh Manhas, winner of the Gold in 50m Rifle competition earlier, added another Gold Medal to his name after winning the 10m Rifle category. He had a score of 205.9 in the end while Uttar Pradesh’s Akhil Sheoran (205.8) and Sathyam Chauhan (183.5) won Silver and Bronze respectively.
In the team event, Haryana won Gold while the Services team had to settle for Silver. Uttar Pradesh had to settle for Bronze.
It turned out to be yet another good day for the Services team in shooting. They are piling up medals in Shooting and the same is helping Services stay on top of the leader board. Stay tuned for more coverage of the National Games at Sports Rediscovered.
