Pierre Boya and Dudu Omagbemi Score
The Mohun Bagan domination bore fruit as Pierre Boya headed in the first goal of the contest with 25 minutes gone. Katsumi Yusa’s impeccable vision came to the fore as his brilliant cross found Boya, who in turn headed in the first goal of the contest.
Despite the solitary goal advantage, Sanjoy Sen’s men made a fatal mental error. A lapse in concentration from Belo Razaq in particular saw Dudu Omagbemi score on the half hour mark. Incidentally, Dudu’s goal was a carbon copy of the goal scored by Pierre Boya.
A few rival tussles from players from both sides brought a conclusion to the first half with the score at 1-1.
Both Sides Create Chances
An injury to Harmanjot Khabra saw youngster Lalrindika Ralte move into a central midfield position. Although the move disrupted the balance in a way, it proved to be a masterstroke as the second half went on. Armando Colaco’s men began to create more chances from open play as a result.
The ugly side of the game once more was exposed as Kingshuk Debnath and Dudu Omagbemi got into a tussle. Despite that, the Kolkata faithful were not let down as they were indeed treated to an entertaining match that ended at 1-1.
A point and a goal apiece saw both managers take away many positives from the game. Among the positives, Armando Colaco will certainly be pleased with the performance by Lalrindika Ralte. The young Indian starlet showed his midfield and creative prowess as he picked up the man of the match award.
