The group stage matches of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 are nearing their conclusion. All eyes are now set on the quarter final lineup and especially on defending champions India. India will be heading into the quarter finals as group toppers of Pool B and will be facing the fourth ranked team of Pool A.
Though the final standings of both groups are yet to be confirmed, an India vs. Bangladesh encounter appears to be a major possibility.
In favor of India vs. Bangladesh
India’s journey into the quarter finals as group toppers of Pool B is confirmed. The team now has ten points from their five matches and none of the other teams can catch up. South Africa is the nearest rival for India but they have only eight points from six matches.
Meanwhile, Pakistan and Ireland are stranded on six points each and will not get past India even if they win their remaining matches.
In Pool A, Bangladesh is settled at fourth with seven points from five matches. They have one match remaining, in which they shall face in form New Zealand. If New Zealand continue their good form against Bangladesh, then we are almost sure to see an India vs. Bangladesh match in the quarter finals.
Against India vs. Bangladesh
The only factor that stands against an India vs. Bangladesh match is the result of the Bangladesh-New Zealand clash. If the Tigers manage to pull off a surprise, they will take over Sri Lanka in the Pool A standings and shall be guaranteed a second or third place finish.
This shall presents India with the possibility of playing against either Sri Lanka or Australia, depending Australia’s last match. Sri Lanka have eight points from their six matches, Australia have seven from five matches and Bangladesh also have seven points from five matches, making it a three horse race to face India.
Whatever happens, make sure you don’t miss the action in the Quarter Finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015!
