Lalthuammawia Ralte Stars In 1-0 Win Over Salgaocar: I League

Bengaluru FC marked the completion of the first half of the season with a remarkable win over Slagaocar at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa. Goalkeeper Lalthuammawia Ralte picked up the man of the match award and rightly so with a tremendous performance. The Blues custodian successfully saved a penalty and made a couple of brilliant saves as the Blues picked up all three points. Returning striker Robin Singh was the only one who got on the score sheet as the visitors took the game 1-0.

Both teams play out first half stalemate

The teams were welcomed on to the pitch by a rather silent home crowd and a set of away fans making the trip to back their team. Ashley Westwood looked to take an attacking approach to the game with Sean Rooney leading the attack. Playing with a 100% record against the Goan club, the Blues started off on the front foot with Robin Singh putting Sunil Chettri in a one on one situation against Subrata Paul but the skipper put it wide. That however, was the only best chance of the half for the Blues.

The Bangalore club saw much of the possession, calling out the best of Subrata Pal in numerous occasions by Sean Rooney and Lyngdoh.

The start of the second half was marked by winger Beikhokhei Beingaichoo replacing Thoi Singh. As a result, much of the attack came from the right side but the blues found it hard to bulge Subrata Pal’s net.

Heading towards the closing stages, Bengaluru FC’s attempts paid off when Rino Anto’s floated cross was met by Robin Singh who headed the ball past Subrata Pal’s to give the away side the lead in the 79th minute.

The celebrations were short lived as the home side were then awarded a penalty when Salgaocar skipper Rocus Lamare was brought down by blues substitute Lalchhuanmawia. Blues keeper Lalthuammawia Ralte guessed the right direction to save Gilbert Oliveira’s spot-kick and help the Blues back the crucial three points.

Bengaluru FC top the table, beating Mohun Bagan to it with the latter having two games in hand. The Bangalore based team beat Salgaocar with a score line of 1-0 but clearly looked the more dominating side.
