#1 Australia set the highest team total in a World Cup against Afghanistan:
When the Aussies countered Afghanistan in their group encounter, they put a whopping 417 total on the scoreboard, which is the highest total scored by any team in a World Cup. Earlier this record was held by India ,who put up a total of 413 runs against Bermuda in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007. This match also lead to another record of the highest victory margin in a WC as the hosts won the home with a margin of 250 runs.
#2 Martin Guptill hits highest individual score:
Martin Guptill scored 237 runs against West Indies in the Quarter Finals to usher New Zealand into the Semi Finals of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Scoring 137 off his last 52 balls, he broke the record of the highest individual score in the World Cup. His innings featured 11 sixes and 24 fours.
He has joined the elite double century club with Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar , Virender Sehwag, and Chris Gayle.
#3 Mohammad Tauqir: Oldest player at a World Cup
Mohammad Tauqir, 43, a UAE cricketer has become the oldest person to play in the World Cup. He is a right-hand batsman and a right-arm off-break bowler. He has earned 11 ODI caps for UAE so far.
#4 India bag 70 wickets in 7 matches
India’s bowling unit delivered a surprise performance in the World Cup by getting all 70 wickets in their first 7 matches. The strength of the Indian bowling almost seemed to be second to the likes of Australia and New Zealand but they performed well- bringing down the batting of the oppositions before they could complete 50 overs.
#5 New Zealand get their Mauka:
New Zealand took on Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 final and this is going to be their first entry into the finals in the history of the tournament. The Black Caps had never reached the finals before. Just like the previous World Cup’s final, the co-hosts will be contesting for the ultimate glory.
