Most Memorable Acts Of IPL: Brendon McCullum’s Blinder
Arguably one of the most stunning performances with the bat in the IPL came about in the very first match of its very first season.
With T20 being a relatively new format during its inception, nobody knew what to expect. Brendon McCullum then played one of the most extraordinary innings which marked the arrival of the IPL era.
The Kiwi smashed 15 sixes and hit 158* off 73 and pocketed the highest individual score of IPL for five seasons.
McCullum blitz was bettered five years later by Chris Gayle, with another daunting show with the bat in season 6.
Gayle smashed a hapless Pune Warriors bowling attack to all parts of the ground to finish with 175* from 66 balls. The West Indian clubbed 17 sixes in the process and it still remains the highest individual score in IPL.
Anil Kumble’s 5 for 5
If T20 was about batsmen and youngsters, Anil Kumble rewrote all that with a remarkable spell in season 3. Kumble took 5 wickets to bundle out Rajasthan for paltry score and returned with figures of 5 for 5.
