The draw sees the Blues hold on to their second position on the league table behind Mohun Bagan. Rahul Bheke opened the scoring for Mumbai FC with a few minutes played in the second half.

First Half: Bengaluru FC dominate goalless first half
In contrast to their former matches, the home side began in a rather slower and lethargic fashion. It took almost seven minutes for the Blues to earn their first chance. Captain Sunil Chhetri’s effort on the nine minute mark was palmed away by Mumbai custodian Snjiban Ghosh. In spite of not putting the Blues ahead, the piece of positive play lifted the crowd as they found their voices again.
Fouls Galore by Mumbai; Udanta Dazzles
Committing a large number of fouls within the first half hour, it was clear that Khalid Jamil’s men had no gameplan. The plethora of chances saw skipper Dane Pereira and Chika Wali enter the referee’s book. Debutant Udanta Singh dazzled on the right flank as he created many a problem for John Coutinho in particular.
In spite of coming close on multiple occasions, Sunil Chhetri and co could boast of only a couple of substantial chances in the first half. The most prominent of which came close towards the close of the first half. A miscued jump from Mumbai FC custodian Ghosh saw Shankar Sampingiraj fail to put the ball into the empty net.
Khalid Jamil’s men boasted of just the solitary shot on target as the first half ended at a goalless stalemate.
Second Half: Rahul Bheke Puts Mumbai Ahead; Robin Singh Equalizes, Sees Red
Realizing that maximum points were up for grabs, Mumbai FC began the second half in earnest. Having strung a few chances together, Khalid Jamil’s men looked more threatening with every attack. Sure enough, the deadlock was broken with 67 minutes played, when Rahul Bheke’s header swung past Lalthuammawia Ralte in a flash. The away side, were in the lead.
Ashley Westwood as a result, brought on his impact players Robin Singh, Beikho Beingaichho and Chhuantea Fanai. Robin Singh provided Westwood’s men with the impact they needed as the big Bengaluru forward found the back of the net following a series of ricochets in front of goalkeeper Ghosh.
A touch of controversy was added towards the end as Robin Singh was given a straight red card courtesy of an elbow tackle on Mumbai FC defender Chika Wali.
The match therefore concluded with the scoreboard reading 1-1.
