Soumyajeet won his singles and doubles matches to beat the Northern Ireland team

The Indian TT team notched their second win at the Commonwealth games. The win was due to a sterling effort by Soumyajeet to come back from a two game deficit in his singles match against Ashley Robinson . Soumyajeet was able to put behind the loss of 5 game points in the first two games to make an electrifying start in Game 3 with an 8-0 lead. Thereafter Soumyajeet always kept his nose ahead due to a fine back hand topspin and a potent forehand top spin shot. Finally a key backhand block followed by a set of forehand top spin shots in the final points ensured that Soumyajeet won the close deciding game.  Thereafter the doubles was a cake walk with Soumyajeet and Harmeet Desai attacking at will to beat the Irish doubles combination with ease.
