ISSF World Cup Shooting: Disappointing Day For India

Jitu Rai finished 20th in the Qualification but failed to make the cut

Om Prakash, Jitu Rai and Prakash Nanjappa had a good outing in the qualification relays yesterday but failed to step up their game when it actually mattered.

Jitu Rai performed better than the lot and finished 20th in the Qualifiers with 555 points. Prakash Nanjappa closely followed on 28th with 553 points while Om Prakash finished 38th with 548 points. All three performances were not good enough to reach the final which was a big blow for India.

25M Pistol Women

Indian shooters struggled in the 25M pistol event for women as well. Rahi Sarnobat finished 20th in the qualifiers with 578 points but failed to make it to the finals. Annu Raj Singh and Anisa Sayyed were the other shooters in the mix and they finished 43rd and 52nd respectively in the qualifiers.

Annu had a grand total of 573 points when Anisa could only manage 567. Just like the 50m Pistol event, all three women failed to make the cut in this event as well.

50M Rifle Prone Men

Gagan Narang’s performance was the other good news for India from the ISSF Shooting World Cup after Apurvi Chandela ‘s triumph. Gagan Narang finished second in the Elimination Relay of 50m Rifle Prone Men event with a score of 625.2. He now has a big chance of making it into the finals if the good form continues and could make up for lost ground in the 10m rile event.

The qualification of the 50m rifle prone men is scheduled to be held on 12th April 2015. The ISSF Shooting World Cup will concluded four days later on 16th April 2015. Tune into Sports Rediscovered for all the latest news and updates on ISSF shooting World Cup.
