Kamalpreet Singh has broken his own national record in Hammer Throw after he cleared a distance of 72.86 in the Tuscon Elite Classic in Arizona.
Third Place for Kamalpreet Singh
Kamalpreet did break the Indian national record with his throw but the record breaking effort however could only secure him a third place in the tournament. He competed in the competition as an unattached athlete and produced his best throw in the first attempt itself. He tried to better the throw in his remaining five attempts but failed to do so.
This is the second time in two months that the Indian broke his own record. His last record stood at 70.38. He achieved this in an invitational event in Sacramento State Open held at the United States of America. Earlier, Kamalpreet held the National record for a distance of 70.37 which he registered in Arizona itself.
Disappointment despite the records
The distance that Kamalpreet managed to produce is the third best among Asian hammer throwers this season. Despite all these achievements, Kamalpreet failed to find a place in the Indian contingent which is scheduled to compete in the 2015 Asian Athletics Championship to be held in Wuhan, China. The competition starts on June 3, 2015 and Kamalpreet will be looking to make a statement in the time being.
