The Pepsi IPL 2015, undoubtedly the world’s biggest T20 cricket carnival has finally come to a close with Mumbai Indians winning their second title. They defeated Chennai Super Kings by 41 runs to claim the trophy at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. As we draw curtains, let us look at five talking points which made the IPL 2015 an exciting tournament altogether:
1. The impact of uncapped players in IPL 2015
The basic purpose of IPL 2015, like its previous editions, was to find new, exciting talent and groom them by playing them alongside and against world-class players. This year’s IPL has seen a great involvement from uncapped players and these players have been instrumental in their performance. Delhi Daredevils’ Shreyas Iyer amassed 439 runs from 14 innings and also picked the “Emerging Player of the tournament” trophy for his effort.
In the bowling department, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Yuzvendra Chahal played an important role in bringing his team to the playoffs. The young leggie from Haryana captured 23 wickets and was the highest wicket taker among Indians at IPL 2015.
Similarly, the likes of Sandeep Sharma (KXIP), Anureet Singh (KXIP), Hardik Pandya (MI), J Suchith (MI), Harshal Patel (RCB) and Sarfaraz Khan (RCB) were others who impressed everyone and showed a lot of promise.
