Abhishek Verma: Good show

The other Indians who secured a top 10 ranking in the qualification rounds were Deepika Kumari in women’s recurve section and Jayanta Talukdar in men’s recurve category. While the former world no. 1 Deepika was ranked 9th, veteran archer Talukdar was placed in the 10th position in their respective categories.

In the team rankings, the men’s recurve team clinched the 3rd place while the men’s compound team too did well to be placed 6th. The women’s compound team secured an eighth position. However, the women’s recurve team failed to get a top 10 ranking as they managed just the 13th position.

Indian Mixed Recurve Team loses narrowly

It was a disappointing day for India in the Mixed Team competition. The recurve mixed team of Deepika Kumari and Jayanta Talukdar lost heartbreakingly by just one point in a shoot-off in the pre-quarter-finals. The French team of Lucas Daniel and Berengere Schuh edged Kumari/Talukdar 5-4 (19-18).

In Compound Mixed Team competition, the team of Abhishek Verma and Ramandeep Kaur too could not progress beyond the pre-quarters. They lost to Stephan Hansen and Tanja Jensen of Denmark 151-154.
