Saurav Ghosal Goes Down In Hong Kong Final

Top seed and home hope Max Lee denied second seeded Saurav Ghosal the 2015 PSA HKFC International 25 title as he came storming back to win the final in four games on Saturday. Defending champion Max lost the first game 9-11, but bounced back to triumph 9-11, 11-6, 11-1, 11-9 in 70 minutes at the Hong Kong Squash Club.

Saurav beat Jan Anjema in semis

Earlier in the semi-finals, the world no. 21 Saurav Ghosal had put up a solid performance to notch up a straight-game win. The Indian won the match 11-3, 11-4, 11-9 over fourth seed Laurens Jan Anjema of the Netherlands.

Annie Au wins women’s final

It was a double delight for the home crowd as top seed Annie Au of Hong Kong reigned supreme in the women’s final. The eleventh-ranked Hong Kong player edged past sixth seeded Habiba Mohamed of Egypt 11-7, 8-11, 9-11, 11-4, 11-8 to clinch the title.

Joshna Chinappa’s run ends in the semis

Earlier in the last-four stage, Annie Au came through a tough battle against world no. 24 Joshna Chinappa. The aggressive Joshna put up a spirited fight and even took a one-game lead before Annie made a superb comeback to book her place in the final. Joshna lost 11-9, 10-12, 6-11, 9-11.

Harinder Pal Sandhu lost in first round

Apart from Saurav and Joshna, the only other Indian to play in this tournament was national champion Harinder Pal Sandhu. In an all-Indian first round contest, Sandhu had bowed out to Saurav 3-11, 7-11, 5-11.
