Indian badminton ace Saina Nehwal was eliminated from the Indonesian Badminton Open today after she failed to overcome the hurdle of Wang Shixian of China.
Tough Day for Saina Nehwal
The tournament earlier saw India’s P Kashyap advanced to the semi-finals by stunning the world number one Chen Long. Lady luck however failed to smile at Saina. The world number two Indian ace was favoured to win against her opponent, world number five Wang.
Saina took the first game 21-16 and looked destined to make it to the next round. Wang, however, came back strongly in the next round and took the game 21-12. The third game saw Wang break the hearts of Indian fans when she comfortably took home the game with a scoreline of 21-18. Wang seemed to be playing with a clear plan which eventually worked against Saina.
Kashyap: The only Indian player left
Indian hopes are now resting on Parupalli Kashyap, the is the only Indian player left in the tournament. Earlier, the likes of Kidambi Srikanth, Jwala Gutta, Ashwini Ponnappa and PV Sindhu crashed out of the tournament as well.
Although momentum will be on his side, Kashyap does have a tough game in the semi-finals and it will be interesting to see if the Indian ace can go all the way.
