After a fighting performance against Oman, the Indian Football Team has left for Guam to play their second match in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
Indian Football Team Confident of a strong showing
The morale among the players is on an all-time high after their outing against Guam. Guam currently has three points to their name after securing a win against Turkmenistan. Stephen Constantine, the Indian Coach, said that Guam is a good side.
“There are a very difficult side and are being managed by an English Coach. They have five Players playing in the US with a couple playing in the MLS. So for all who have been rubbishing Guam, you need to look at their strength,” he told www.the-aiff.com.
The Indian captain Arnab Mondal also expressed his confidence in the team.
“The fight against Oman has added to our confidence. We have a feeling this is the beginning of a turnaround in Indian Football. I foresee this as the beginning of something good,” Mondal said.
Mondal also had his view about the whole array of debutants that came into the side over the past few months.
“When has it ever happened in Indian Football that 13 debutants have been fielded in three matches?. You balance it with the results, you will find us beating Nepal and going down narrowly to one of the strongest sides in Asia. All of that illustrates that the ‘new generation’ are ready to take on the mantle,” he said.
The team will reach at Guam around 5 pm on June 13. The match is scheduled to be held on June 16.
