Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea made a good start to the 2015 grass season as they captured the Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart on Sunday. The fourth-seeded Indo-Romanian duo edged past the third seeds Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares 5-7, 6-2, 10-7. This is the duo’s second title of the season as they had earlier claimed the Madrid Open in May.
As for Bopanna, this is his fourth title this year as he had triumphed in Sydney and Dubai with former partner Daniel Nestor. With this title on grass at Stuttgart, Bopanna has now won a title in each of the three surfaces – clay, grass and hardcourts this year.

Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea lost a close first set 5-7 after being broken late in the set. The Indo-Romanian pair rebounded in style and broke their higher-seeded opponents twice to claim the second set 6-2. Their serve was outstanding in the second set as they did not even face a single break point.
The fourth seeds then went on to clinch the match in the super tie-break which they won 10-7.
With this victory, Bopanna and Mergea are now eighth in the race to the year-ending World Tour Finals.
