Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri will have some inspiring company in the form of Ryan Moore and Erik Compton in the US Open Golf Tournament.
Anirban Lahiri – Making his move
The US Open Golf Tournament will be held in Washington from June 18 to June 21. Lahiri comes into the tournament after securing two wins from 12 events so far this year. While recent form suggests Anirban needs more experience, he is likely to be a solid contender. Lahiri will tee off along with local Ryan Moore and Norwegian Erick Compton in the first two rounds. India’s hopes will be carried by Lahiri and Kapur.
Moore had finished second in the 2014 US Open and will provide a tough challenge for Lahiri. Elsewhere, Shiv Kapur will tee off against Denny McCarthy. Other big guns like Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth and Tiger Woods will also be there and will be looking to add to their tally of Grand Slams.
McIlroy is paired up with Martin Kaymer, who is also the defending champion. McIlroy failed to make the cut in the last two events and will be looking to bounce back this time around. He last won the US Open in 2011.
World Number 2 Jordan Spieth is in an exciting group with Justin Rose and Jason Day. Tiger Woods, who recorded his worst round last week, will tee off with Rickie Fowler and Louis Oosthuizen. The other top group includes Sergio Garcia, Adam Scott and Dustin Johnson.
