Jitu Rai – The winning feeling

India’s ace pistol shooter, continued his remarkable year by winning a Silver at the 51st ISSF World Shooting Championships, held at Granada. To add to his joy, this performance also helped Jitu qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympics. With this performance Jitu Rai became the first Indian shooter to punch his tickets for the Rio 2016 Olympics.

In the men’s 50 metre pistol event, Jitu Rai, shot a total of 191.1 in the Finals to attain silver. In a close match, Jitu lost out to the eventual gold medalist from South Korea, Jin Jongh who scored 192.3.

Currently Jitu Rai is ranked 5th in the World. This performance is on the back of a superb Gold Medal at Glasgow CWG 2014, and 2 gold medals at previous World Cups.

By his consistent performances , Jitu has set the standards for Indian shooters and one expects to see many more of his compatriots joining him in the queue to Rio very shortly.
