Indian wrestlers Yogeshwar Dutt and Narsingh Yadav have moved a step closer to the 2016 Rio Olympics. The grapplers qualified for the World Wrestling Championships which are to be held in Las Vegas in September. They grabbed the number one spot in their respective categories at the selection trials held in Delhi. 2008 Olympics silver medalist Sushil Kumar missed the trials following an injury to his right shoulder.
Yogeshwar Dutt cruises to victory in final round bout:
After being handed a bye in the initial round of the men’s 65 Kg freestyle, Yogeshwar Dutt registered comfortable victories in the later rounds. In the final round of the trials, he faced Amit Kumar Dhankar of Haryana. In a four-minute long bout, it was Yogeshwar Dutt who emerged victorious with a 6-3 score.
Sushil Kumar misses out, Narsingh Yadav fights hard to win in 74 kg:
In the 74 kg category, Narsingh Pancham Yadav was billed as the favourite following the absence of star grappler Sushil Kumar. The 2014 Asian games bronze medalist faced Praveen Rana in his final bout and edged him out with a score of 6-5 to seal his spot for the World Championship.

Apart from Yogeshwar Dutt and Narsingh Yadav, there were athletes who aced their weight category to qualify for the Worlds. The World Championships is set to commence on September 7, and is also the first of the qualification tournaments for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
