From Saturday, we shall see the entire nation engulfed in Kabaddi madness as the second season of the Pro Kabaddi League gets underway on the auspicious occasion of Eid. The month-long Kabaddi extravaganza is set to hit the turf on Saturday, July 18th and will go on till August 23rd. Defending champions Jaipur Pink Panthers and previous edition’s runners-up U-Mumba will lock horns in the tournament opener at the NSCI stadium in Mumbai.
For first-timers, the Pro Kabaddi League is a franchise-based Kabaddi tournament where teams from eight different Indian cities will play against each other on home-away basis. The teams are as follows:

Bengaluru Bulls- Bengaluru
Telugu Titans- Vizag
Dabang Delhi- Delhi

Pro Kabaddi League: A platform for young and emerging talent
India has a rich history when it comes to Kabaddi. The men’s and the women’s teams have won almost every tournament on the international circuit till date – the most recent being their successful triumph at the Incheon Asian Games in October 2014. Kabaddi being a sport of Indian origin, has had a strong fan base in India, and the sport is played at a competitive level as well as for recreation.
The Pro Kabaddi League serves as a breeding ground for the best Kabaddi talent in the country. Last year, players like Ajay Thakur (Bengaluru), Rahul Choudhary (Vizag) and Kashiling Adake (Delhi) made a mark at the Pro Kabaddi League stage. The league will also see International players like Indian captain Rakesh Kumar (Patna), Manjit Chillar (Bengaluru), Navneet Gautam (Jaipur) and many others.
