Patna Pirates secured a huge win in the Pro Kabaddi League when they defeated reigning champions Jaipur Pink Panthers 29-23.
Patna Pirates Does the unthinkable
By defeating the reigning champions, Patna Pirates became the first team to defeat Jaipur Pink Panthers in their own backyard. Jaipur was ahead in the first half of the match and changed ends with a lead of 11-10. However, the second half proved to be a sorry affair for Pink Panthers.
The hosts made some major tactical errors in the second half and finally settled for a 29-23 defeat at the end of the day.
The Patna Pirates were heavily dependent on their captain Rakesh Kumar, who excelled both in defense and raids. He was the top scorer of the game with eight points to his name while Sandeep Narwal piled up seven points for the Pirates. Elsewhere, Sunil Kumar made a contribution of two points.
As for Pink Panthers, Jasbir Singh had eight points when Rajesh Narwal had seven points. Kuldeep Singh came third with five points.
With the win, Patna Pirates have made an improvement on their Pro Kabaddi standings. The team has won seven points from their three matches so far. They will be looking to carry the momentum forward as well. As for the Jaipur squad this defeat at home will rankle and they will need to come up with something special soon to stop their losing run,especially as they will now face one of the leading teams of this season, the Telegu Titans.
