After the success of various sports leagues, India is all set to witness the launch of another one in the form of Pro Wrestling League.
Pro Wrestling League Aiming High
The inaugural edition of the Pro Wrestling League will be held between November 8 and 29 this year. The league will feature the likes of many top male and female wrestlers from across the globe. These wrestlers will be split into six franchises that will fight for the ultimate prize of Rs. 3 crores.
Each franchise would have eleven players each consisting of six men and five women. From this, six wrestlers would be Indians while the remaining five would be foreigners. All teams will face each other once. Each match will be played in best-of-nine format while each bout in a match would have three rounds of three minutes each.
The league will feature notable Indian wrestlers like Sushil Kumar, Geeta Phogat, Yogeshwar Dutt and many more. Apart from the Indians, nearly 20 Olympic gold medalists and eight reigning world champions have shown their interest.
“It will be a great boost when the cream of world wrestling comes to India. This will be a great opportunity for our players to travel with them and learn a lot. Besides the league will keep the focus on the sport and motivate the upcoming wrestlers,” Sushil Kumar said.
