Patna Pirates secured their second win of the 2015 Pro Kabaddi League after overpowering Dabang Delhi with a score of 39-22. With this win, they moved to the fifth place in the Pro Kabaddi standings.
Patna Pirates dominate throughout the game:
Patna Pirates skipper Rakesh Kumar was benched and raider Sandeep Narwal was named the stand-in captain. The Pirates were off the mark in the very first minute and pulled off points at will. Dabang Delhi failed to weather the onslaught and suffered their first all-out in the 11th minute. The Patna Pirates were in no mood to lower the intensity of their attack and were backed by their fans with loud cheers in the Pataliputra Sports Complex. Deeapk Narwal and Ravi Dalal did the bulk of the raiding in the first half and enjoyed a lot of success. The defenders pinned down every Delhi raider who came their way. Their fate was virtually sealed as they suffered another all-out and the score read 24-8 at half-time.
Delhi come back strong in 2nd half:
A lackluster performance in the first half meant that Dabang Delhi had given away far too many points to the Patna Pirates and did not see themselves in the fray. However, they came into the second half as an improved unit and managed to notch up seven points in the next ten minutes, compared to Patna’s six. This took the score to 30-15 after 30 minutes.
There was improvement in performance but that was not enough for Dabang Delhi to overcome the mammoth first-half deficit. The final score read 39-22 in the favour of Patna Pirates. This is their first win in the home leg and the second win in the tournament.
Deepak Narwal was the standout player for Patna in the absence of Rakesh Kumar. Narwal picked up the man of the match award as well. The Patna raider scored 10 points in all which also included 2 tackle points. The win has helped the Pirates to keep their hopes alive despite a forgettable start to this season.
