Coming from a heartbreaking loss against Dabang Delhi last week, defending champions Jaipur Pink Panthers registered their second win of the Pro Kabaddi League 2015. They defeated Puneri Paltan 29-35 to move to the sixth spot on the league table. Despite stand-in skipper Pravin Niwale’s heroics, the Jaipur Pink Panthers came out as winners owing to the collective effort of Rakesh Narwal, Sonu Narwal and Jasvir Singh.
Jaipur Pink Panthers dominate throughout first half:
Sonu Narwal put pressure on Puneri Paltan in the 4th minute as he completed a super raid, sending three Pune defenders to the bench. Pune did well to recover and followed the Jaipur Pink Panthers closely as the score read 7-6 in the 10th minute. The 14th minute saw Puneri Paltan suffer an all-out and the Pink Panthers secured two bonus points. They built a crucial six-point lead as the first half ended 19-13.
Puneri Paltan fights back, Jaipur holds on:
Trailing by a reasonably big margin, Puneri Paltan made efforts to fight their way back into contention but failed to do so. Pravin Niwale received little support from Mahipal Narwal and Sanjay Kumar. However, this was not enough to derail the Jaipur Pink Panthers. Jasvir Singh and Sonu Narwal decided to up the ante and as a result, were picking up raid points more frequently. While Jasvir aimed for the bonus line, Sonu Narwal made good use of his speed to win touch points. In the 37th minute, Jasvir succeeded in his raid but Pravin failed to win one back for his team after being hunted down by the Jaipur defenders. The final score read 35-29 in favour of the Jaipur Pink Panthers and another loss for Puneri Paltan could put them out of the title race.
