Match 29 of the Pro Kabaddi League 2015 was played between hosts Telugu Titans and Jaipur Pink Panthers. In front of a vibrant, Kabaddi-crazy Hyderabad crowd, both teams played out a thrilling 39-39 draw at the Gachibowli stadium on Tuesday.
Defending champions of the Pro Kabaddi League Jaipur Pink Panthers are experiencing a forgettable season this time around. The pressure mounted further with this tied game against Telugu Titans.
First half: Sukesh Hegde puts Telugu Titans in command
The Telugu Titans were off to a flyer as they picked up a Super Raid early in the game . Sukesh Hegde was the player involved as the agile raider managed to eliminate three Jaipur defenders in a single raid. The home side then raced to a 10-2 lead, thanks to a brilliant all-round effort. The Pink Panthers looked off-colour and lacked the intensity that was required for this high-profile clash. Defenders Rohit Rana and Prashant Chavan had a very ordinary outing as they were not very effective against the likes of Rahul Chaudhari, Sukesh Hegde and Deepak Nivas Hudda. Jaipur suffered their first all-out within seven minutes and it seemed as if the Titans would comfortably take the match. At half-time, the score read 20-12 in favour of the Hyderabad side.
Jaipur Pink Panthers make strong comeback, Titans escape defeat:
Jaipur’s captain Jasvir Singh was not at the top of his game, but points from Rajesh Narwal and Sonu Narwal helped the team to close their deficit and take the score to a more competitive 24-17. Rajesh Narwal was then slowed down thanks to a green card which he received for arguing with the umpire.
The Pink Panthers produced the game that made them champions last year and closed the gap to one point with just minutes to play in the second half. There was some sheer desperation from Telugu Titans due to the same and they started working on extending their lead. The Titans had begun to crumble under pressure as they suffered two all-outs within six minutes. Jaipur were leading in the dying stages of the game but Rahul Chaudhari got the all-important equalizer in the penultimate raid of the match. Jasvir Singh was the last man to raid and an empty raid from the stand-in Jaipur captain ensured a draw between both the teams. Sonu Narwal was the standout player of the match. There was some verbal confrontation after the match but it would be remembered as a game that had some great comebacks.
