After a disappointing outing against Telugu Titans, Patna Pirates secured a narrow 30-28 win against Bengaluru Bulls in the 2015 Pro Kabaddi League.
To and Fro game between Patna Pirates and Bengaluru Bulls
The match proved to be a to and fro affair from the start itself. Bulls drew first blood when Ajay Thakur earned a point comfortably. Vijay Malik and Manjeet Chhillar then helped the team to get a 3 point lead after seven minutes of the game.
However, this lead did not last long. Patna Pirates leveled the score through Suresh Kumar and Ravi Dalal. Exchange of points took place between the two teams afterwards and the score line read 9-9 at the 17th minute. Bengaluru pushed in the dying minutes of the first half and thanks to two points from Ashish Chhokar, the team went into half time with a 12-9 score line in their favor.
Patna Strike back in the second half
Both teams looked determined in the second half and it was anyone’s game. Sandeep Narwal led a great spell for the pirates as they snatched seven consecutive points. This took the score to 16-12 in favor of Pirates.
Sandeep Narwal then forced an all-out on the Bulls and the score went to 20-13. Ajay Thakur was miles away from his regular performance and this affected the Bengaluru bulls badly. Manjeet Chillar suffered a handful of tackles as well, which did no good for the team.
Pirates led the match by three points with four minutes to go. Pirates then extended this lead to seven through Deepak Narwal and Sandeep Narwal and took the score to 28-21.
Just when they thought the match was over, Bulls won five points straight. Dharmaraj Cheralathan was responsible for the revival and the lead of Patna was cut to 2 points. Patna held strong in the last couple of minutes and ensured a close win for the team. Sandeep Narwal was chosen as the man of the match.
