U Mumba continued their impressive run in the Pro Kabaddi League after securing a 36-29 win over Bengaluru Bulls.
U Mumba Defense in top form
The U Mumba defense was in top form last night and it helped them throughout. Mumbai started off the match with the lead but the score was soon equalized at 7-7. However, the Mumbai defense managed to trap Rajesh Mondal, Ajay Thakur and Pradeep Narwal and inflicted an all-out on their rivals in the 17th minute.
Bhupinder Singh’s injury was a big blow for Mumbai in the first half but despite this, they closed the half with a 18-13 lead.
Mumbai produced some excellent defensive game in the second half as well. D Sureshu, who replaced Bupinder scored two points through raids while being a major factor in the defense. Ajay Thakur failed to find his rhythm for Bengaluru and Mumbai defenders Mohit Chillar and Surender Nada trapped him four times in the match.
Pradeep Narwal and Rakesh Narwal also didn’t have much to do. Jeeva Kumar then came in and helped Mumbai rush to the finish line with his ankle holds and thigh holds. The match ended with a score line of 36-29 in favor of Mumbai. They are back on top of the points table after the win while Bengaluru is sitting third.
U Mumba have already qualified for the play-off and the remaining matches will serve as a warm up for undoubtedly the top team of PKL.
