Saurav Ghosal was exceptional throughout the Albierto Colombiano squash tournament overcoming the tournament’s top seed en-route the final. Ghosal was defeated in the final by the 54th ranked Alfredo Avila from Mexico.

The Mexican on his way to the finals caused major upsets defeating World No. 21 fares Dessouki, World No. 12 Borja Golan and World No. 7 Peter Barker. The Indian top player was his final prey at the tournament enabling him in winning the gold medal. Alfredo Avila beat Saurav Ghosal in four sets in just under one hour . Thus, ending India’s champion players glorious run. The match ended with scores 9-11, 11-8, 4-11 and 8-11 against Sourav Ghosal at the Albierto Colombiano.
“I am really, really happy to have won today, but not just today, also to have won every hard match during the tournament,” said Avila after his triumph at the tournament.
The gold medal was also the Mexican’s first in the PSA M50 tournament.
