Asian Boxing Championships: Indians On A Roll

The Pre-quarterfinal stages of the Asian Boxing Championships have come to an end and brought good news for the Indian boxing fans. Seven of the ten Indian boxers have made it through to the quarter-final round.

Seven Indians through to quarter finals of Asian Boxing Championship

Indian pugilists Shiva Thapa, Devendro Singh, Satish Kumar, Manpreet Singh and Vikas Krishnan had already qualified for the quarters on Sunday 30th August.

Boxer’s Madan and Manoj had their bouts today in their respective weight categories in the final round of the preliminaries. The duo won comfortably, defeating both their opponents with a margin of 3-0 to charge ahead to the knockouts in full-confidence.

Tough task for India in the quarters

Overcoming the preliminary competition at the Asian Boxing Championships, Indian pugilists face the tougher test of gold hunt now. The gold is all the more important, as it will determine their qualification for the spots at the Doha World Championships and thus make their case for qualification for Rio Olympics.

Coming this far in the championships, no one would like to go out without a tough fight.

The objective for the Indian contingent is clear, to win as many spots as possible for the World Championships.

Day 7 of the Asian Boxing Championships will witness a total of 20 bouts in the quarter finals.
