Indian boxer Satish Kumar added his name to the list of Indian players to book their spot for the Doha World Boxing Championship. The Indian won the spot at the cost of Tajikistan’s Siyovush Zukhurov.
Satish Kumar goes through
Satish Kumar completely dominated the game against the youth Olympian from the very first round. The situation intensified further in the final round as the bout had to be brought to a halt by the referee due to the Indian’s lethal combinations of punches.
Satish won all three points in the bout to register a comprehensive win and improved upon his previous edition’s record as he qualified for the semi finals of the tournament.
In the other fixture of the day, India’s Kuldeep Singh had a tight encounter against Korea’s Kim Hyeong Kyu that ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Indian.
Indian Boxer’s in action at the Semis
Having already qualified for the World Boxing Championship, the pressure would be less for the Indian boxers during their semi final bouts. Shiva Thapa, L Devendro Singh, Vikas Krishnan and Satish Kumar will fight their respective semi final bouts on the 3rd of September and will hope to make it to the Gold medal match for their country at the ongoing Asian Boxing Championships.
