Saurav Ghosal was the only Indian participant at the China Open 2015, overcoming the qualifiers made an entry to the 1st round of the competition.
Saurav Ghosal loses to finalist Gregory Gaultier
Saurav Ghosal is India’s top ranked squash player and world no. 15, he managed a quick 20 minute win in the opening round of qualifiers against Jungie Wang of China in straight sets 11-1, 11-3, 11-2. Ghosal qualified for the first round by defeating Egyptian Omar Abdel Mequid in the final qualifying round only to set up clash with second seed Gregory Gaultier of France.
Gaultier, a former world no. 1 had his way during the match winning convincingly 11-9, 11-8, 11-7 over the Indian. Ghosal failed to even win a set against the Frenchman who is set to play the finals of the PSA event against Marwan Elshorbagy of Egypt.
Saurav Ghosal can crack top 10
The Indian displayed great form in his past international tournaments with runner-up finish at both the Colombian Open and the HKFC International. Saurav Ghosal will look to conquer his upcoming squash events in the country with the Kolkata International and the CCI International where he has been seeded third and second respectively.
If he can manage to win both the competitions, he may as well end up cracking a career best ranking this season.
