Indian Wrestler Bajrang missed out on Bronze medal at the World Wrestling Championship after going down in the play-off round.
Bajrang, who competed in the 61kg Freestyle category, had a forgettable start when he lost to Batbold Nomin of Mongolia. The final score read 0-10 against Bajrang.
Batbold then went on to reach the finals of the championship and opened the door for Bajrang to win a bronze medal. He defeated Reece Weslee Humphrey in the first Repechage round with a score of 6-0, before defeating Beka Lomtadze of Georgia 13-6 in the second bout. The Arjuna awardee, however, fell in the crucial bout against Vasyl Shuptar of Ukraine.
Disappointing run for Indians continue at World Wrestling Championship
The disappointing run for Indian wrestlers continued at the World Wrestling Championship as Naresh Kumar and Mausam Khatri failed to win medals. Naresh, who competed in the 86kg category was defeated by Marco Lukas Riesen of Switzerland in 1/16 round.
Khatri managed to reach the Repechage round but his journey ended there at the hands of Stefan Kehrer. Elsewhere, Sarita was knocked out of the Women’s 60kg category after a loss to Barka Emese of Hungary.
