Anirban Lahiri kept alive his hopes of winning his first title in United States soil by sitting pretty in the second spot after three rounds of Hotel Fitness Championship.
Lahiri had a solid first round of 69 and then came up with a 65 in the second round. Lahiri produced yet another impressive stint in the third round, in which he closed with 70 and took his overall tally to 12-under 204 for 54 holes. In the third round, Lahiri birdied all the par-5s along with having three bogeys and one double bogey.
Korea’s DH Lee is currently leading the pack with 15-under 201 and the two players are set to go out together in the final pairing. Lahiri still has a big chance of winning the title which in turn would boost him.
Anirban Lahiri on the Course
“There are some holes that you try and make birdies, like the par-5s. The par-3s on this golf course are the stronger one and the 18th is a tough hole. But as long as you hit the greens, you are fine. It is really important to get off to a good start. It is important to get to 2-3-4 under quickly and then put some pressure early (on leader Lee). I don’t want to push too hard on the back nine,” Lahiri said about the course.
Sam Saunders is currently enjoying the third position behind Lahiri while Scott Harrington, Jonathan Byrd, Brett Stegmaier and Jamie Lovermark are tied for fourth position.
