F1 Singapore Grand Prix: From a Fans Perspective

Sports Rediscovered brings a live report from Nikhil Dongre on the Singapore Grand Prix

Formula-One action moved to Singapore this week and it was time for yet another enthralling race. The F1 Singapore Grand Prix qualifying session took place yesterday where Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel bagged the pole position, thus ending Mercedes AMG’s 15-month dominance.

Vettel’s teammate Kimi Raikkonen also put in an impressive performance to grab the third spot. Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo managed to finish second. Current leader and winner of the last two Grands Prix Lewis Hamilton finished fifth and his teammate Nico Rosberg was right behind him at number 6.

Interestingly, this is Ferrari’s first pole position since the 2012 German Grand Prix. Being a Ferrari fan, I am lucky to be here for the F1 Singapore Grand Prix.

My experience at the Marina Bay Circuit:

Entering the stands at the Marina Bay Circuit for my 2nd Formula 1 race. I could feel the excitement in the crowd and in me. As I entered the grandstand for qualifying the giant screen was showing Sebastian Vettel celebrating his first victory of the season in Malaysia shouting “Forza Ferrari” on his radio, setting up the scene for Vettel’s bid in dethroning Hamilton and his attempt at a record 8th pole position.

Qualifying session 1 & 2 were eventless though Ferrari were showing the same consistency which has been on display from the 1st practice session. Ferrari along with Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull conserved their super soft tyres for Qualifying 3 which eventually proved to be a masterstroke.

The F1 Singapore Grand Prix Qualifying for Force India proved to be very bad as both their cars went out after the 2nd session. Ferrari and Red Bull went home happy on Saturday night after finishing in the top 4.

Ferrari and Vettel will be happy with the result in qualifying even though they know it doesn’t guarantee victory on Sunday.
