The gold medallist at the Delhi Commonwealth Games, Omkar Singh continued his good form in the 50m free pistol event. He shot an impressive 571 at the third Olympic selection trials held at Tughlakabad.
The Olympic quotas in the event had been won by Jitu Rai at the World Championships last year and Prakash Nanjappa earlier this year.
Pushpanjali Rana top scored in the 25m sports pistol event with 578 ahead of Surabhi Pathak, Shweta Singh and Gauri Sheoran.
However, it was only Ashok Chavanke taking aim for the men at the 10m air rifle field. On the other hand, Aayushi Gupta scored 416.7 in the air rifle event among women.
The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has selected nine shooters in each Olympic event and given them the option of shooting the trials, in case they do not have six international scores apart from the mandatory entry in the forthcoming national championship, according to The Hindu.
