Indian Golfer Anirban Lahiri finished tied for 16th in the Small Business Connection championship, which is the second event in the four event Web.com tour.
Lahiri started off the final day tied for 20th position. He then came up with birdies on the first, third, 14th, and 16th, whereas he scored bogeys on the 11th and 17th. In the end, he finished the round at one-under 71. Lahiri had earlier finished tied for sixth in the first Web.com tour event and the strong finish in the second one has almost guaranteed him a PGA Tour card.
If Lahiri accomplishes this, he will only be the second Indian after Arjun Atwal to hold the PGA Tour Card.
Mission accomplished for Anirban Lahiri
“Mission Accomplished, I think. I will now begin my preparations for Presidents, which I am looking forward to,” he said after the tournament.
Lahiri currently has prize money of USD 49,750 which in turn places him seventh on the Web.com Finals money list. The top 25 in the list will be offered a card.
“I think that if I’m close to USD 50,000 that should be plenty. That’s what everyone’s saying. That’s a chance I have to take, but I think I’m going to take that chance. I might decide late tonight whether I play next week or not, but as things stand, I might not tee it up next week,” Lahiri added.
