The Indian Men’s Basketball team emerged victorious against Palestine in the second round of FIBA Asia Championship. The Indian team had earlier reached the second round after finishing third in their group which consisted of Malaysia, Japan, and Iran. The team had won their match against Malaysia but lost against Japan and Iran.
Strong Win for India at FIBA Asia
India started off in the usual fashion and were piling up the points in the first quarter. Amjyot Singh scored seven points and he was supported well by Vishesh Bhriguvanshi who scored six. Palestine then came back with a fight and ended the first half in their favor. The score after the first half read 49-39 in favor of Palestine who were, till then, undefeated in the championship.
However, India were in no mood to give up and after some excellent performances from the players, the Indian hoopsters came from behind to win the game in the remaining two quarters. The final score 73- 70 of the match went in India’s favour.
Amjyot Singh was the star player for India with 32 points. Vishesh Bhriguvanshi scored 17, while Amritpal Singh scored 14. Sani Sakakini was the top scorer for Palestine with 23 points. India will now face Hong Kong in the FIBA Asia Championship.
