Indian Shooter Abhinav Bindra won the Gold medal at the Asian Airgun Championship on Sunday. The Beijing Olympic Gold medalist will be celebrating his 33rd birthday on September 28, 2015 and the medal is expected to make the occasion even more special.
Abhinav Bindra Back in Form
Bindra, who competed in the 10m Air Rifle event for men, shot a score of 208.3 to win the Gold. Kazakhstan’s World number eight Yurkov Yuriy went home with the silver for a score of 206.6 when Korea’s Yu Jaechul won bronze for a score of 185.3 in the competition held at Delhi.
India’s Gagang Narang came in fourth in the event after a score of 164.5 to his name. Chain Singh was the other India in the top 10 as he finished sixth with 122.7.
Bindra expressed his happiness in the win and said that it was not easy to get there.
“A lot of training has gone into it. I am always trying to do the best I can. It may look easy but I can guarantee it’s very, very tough. It’s always good to win medals. I can’t call it a practice but yes it’s good preparation for Rio Olympics because there were medals at stake. When there is a medal involved we can’t call it practice because there is varying degree of pressure,” he said.
He also underlined the fact that there is no rivalry between him and Narang.
“There is no rivalry with Gagan; it’s only for the media. We are well entertained by our sport,” said Bindra.
