The Indian men’s basketball team kept their hopes of making it into the quarter finals of FIBA Asia Championship by defeating Hong Kong in a second round match
The Indian team, unlike their last matches, had a slow start to the game. They were brushed aside by Hong Kong in the first two quarters and Indian team was trailing at the end of the first half. However, the team came back strong in the next two quarters to take home the game with a score line of 76-71.
Amjyot Singh Shines again in FIBA Asia Championship
Amjyot Singh proved to be the standout player for India once again as he scored 26 points for the team. He also had 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks during the course of the game. Yadwinder Singh had 18 points while Vishesh Bhriguvanshi scored 16 points. Wong Chun Wai was the stand out player for Hong Kong as he scored 21 points.
The win was India’s second consecutive one in the FIBA Asia Championship. They defeated Palestine on the previous day and with this win, India now has a solid chance of making it into the quarter finals of the Championship.
India will now play Philipines tomorrow and a win would guarantee the team’s place in the quarter-finals whereas a loss would slightly diminish the same.
