The Indian men’s basketball team suffered defeat to China in the Quarter Final of FIBA Asia Championship.
End to and Impressive FIBA Asia Championship campaign
India had an impressive run in the tournament so far but could not match up to the Chinese team in the quarter final. China dominated from the first quarter itself and took a commanding lead of 15-27 heading into the next quarter.
The Chinese team then piled up points in the remaining three-quarters as well before wrapping up the match with a final score line of 58-104.
It was India’s first match in the knockout stage after a gap of 12 years and they were riding on a lot of momentum ahead of the match. Amjyot Singh, who was India’s main man in the previous matches failed to shine this time around.
Yadwinder Singh and Vishesh Bhriguvanshi scored the major part of the points but it was not enough to get the upper hand against China. India will now play a classification game against Korea on Friday. The team will be able to secure sixth place in the tournament if they defeat Korea. This in turn, will be the team’s best performance since 1989. India will have one more classification game in the tournament after facing off against Korea.
