The search for the elusive second gold medal continued for India at the17th Asian Games even as India added two more bronze to her tally – this time through Wushu. Yumnam Sanathoi Devi and Narender Grewal lost their respective semi-final bouts and had to be content with the bronze.

These are India’s fourth and fifth Asiad medal in the sport of Wushu. But even more heartening is that just like the last edition at Guangzhou, Wushu managed to bring two medals yet again.

Sanathoi Devi couldn’t put up any resistance against her Chinese opponent Zhang Luan in women’s Sanda 52kg and was thoroughly outplayed. She lost 0-2 in a ‘Win by Round’ verdict.

Narender Grewal out up a better fight against Jean Claude Saclag of Philippines in men’s Sanda 60kg semifinals yet had to end up on the losing side. The Indian showed a lot of aggression but it was not enough against an experienced opponent who has won a bronze at the World Championships.

Grewal too lost 0-2 in a Win by Round verdict.
