However, the Indian team managed to put up a decent show for its supporters.
Korea overpowers the Indian Cagers at the FIBA Asia Championship
India went up against Korea with a fresh mind, and the desire to earn the winning points. However, that was not to be for the inexperienced Indian side.
India displayed a decent performance against the Asian mainstay Korea in a 117-72 loss. The Indian team showed character and the ability to fight, as they started well, going neck-to-neck with the Koreans.
As the match progressed, the sharpness of the Indians on the court kept on decreasing and the margin of scores kept on increasing.
India lose 7th spot to Qatar
India played Qatar for the 7th-8th spot decider. The Qatari side started confidently and took the lead early in the game. The Indians failed to catch up and the margin of points increased to 18 by the end of the second quarter.
The third quarter saw India improve on its defense and Qatar were unable to manage points as easily as they did in the first and the second quarter. However, the stronger defense could not be accompanied by a strong attack by the Indian Cagers and they failed to overturn the scoring.
The Indian team thus had to settle for the eighth spot in the tournament.
