Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri has confirmed the PGA tour card for 2016 as the Web.com series came to an end.
Lahiri, who skipped the last two events of the Web.com series, is all set to play for the International Team at the Presidents Cup. The players who finished in the Top-25 Money list at the Web series was guaranteed a PGA tour card and Lahiri did just that.
Anirban Lahiri full of Confidence
Anirban Lahiri played the first two events of the Web.com series and had finished Tied for sixth and Tied for 16th respectively. He had total prize money of US $ 49,750 from the two tournaments and it was enough to get him a card.
“I felt I had done the job after the second event,” Lahiri said.
Lahiri is only the third Indian player to hold a PGA tour card after Arjun Atwal and Jeev Milkha Singh.
“Congratulations to Anirban for achieving what is always a professional golfer’s dream – that is playing on the PGA Tour. His performances this year have been brilliant. And now he is there for President’s Cup. He is setting new standards and he is great for Indian golf,” said Jeev.
The President’s cup is all set to kick off in Incheon this week and the international team consisting of Lahiri will go head to head with the United States Team.
