FC Pune City celebrate victory

Many would have questioned David Platt’s decision to drop opening game star Tuncay Sanli from the starting line-up for their match against North East United tonight. The John Abraham owned outfit had the first chance on goal through Nicolas Velez, but the shot did not have enough power and took a deflection wide of the goal. On the other hand, the North East goalkeeper put in his best game at keeping the opposition away from scoring but made some errors that could prove too costly for the visitors.

The deadlock continued throughout the first half. However, there were many other chances that were created and missed in the play. Definitely, the coaches would have had a lot to talk to the lads during the half-time and change strategies for the remaining half.

Tuncay Sanli had the FC Pune City crowd on its feet

Sanli came on as a sub in the 61st minute for Mutu. And, in the 69th minute he scored a goal brining the home crowd on its feet in celebrations that lasted only for a few seconds as Linesman pulled his flag on the Turkish player. The stunning goal was disallowed and game progressed scoreless.

However, a couple of minutes later Ralte send a FC Pune City corner into his own net to bring back the crowd on its feet. The self-goal became the difference between the sides as the visitors were handed their second defeat in as many games.
