Indian Badminton star Ajay Jayaram walked away with the Dutch Open championship after defeating Raul Must of Estonia in the final.
Second Consecutive title for Ajay Jayaram
Ajay, who was seeded third in the tournament, took home the match in straight games and with a score of 21-12, 21-18. This is his second consecutive Dutch Open title and Ajay expressed his happiness in winning the same.
“I am happy with the way I played this week. It has been a fantastic week. I am happy with the way I defended the title. I did well in the last tournament and I came into this event as highest ranked player. So there was a lot of expectation and pressure. But my positive attitude helped me and I enjoyed myself on court,” he said after the win.
He also expressed his desire to shine in the Danish Open Super Series tournament which will take place next week.
“Next up for me is the Danish Open Super Series. Bigger challenges are awaiting there. I am looking to take the positives from this tournament and give my best next week,” he added.
Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy fall in the final
The doubles pairing of Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy fell in the final of the Dutch Open. They were defeated by Kien Keat Koo and Boon Heong Tan of Malaysia 15-21 10-21 in the final. Attri and Sumeeth were seeded second in the tournament and were the favourites to win the title. However, the Malaysian pair showed some excellent spirit throughout the match and took home the title comfortably.
