Indian athletes Inderjeet Singh, Manpreet Kaur, and Arpinder Kaur were honoured by the Baba Zorawar Singh Baba Fateh Singh Sports and Social Welfare Organisation of Sanipur Village, Fatehgarh District in Punjab on Saturday.
Inderjeet Singh Enjoying Momentum
Inderjeet Singh, who is one of India’s biggest hopes in the upcoming Olympic Games, was the centre of attraction at the event. The Asian Shotput Champion is working hard ahead of the Olympics and had a solid showing in the last tournament. He had won Gold in the National Open Athletics Meet last month and is riding on a lot of momentum ahead of Rio.
Other athletes and guests
Apart from Inderjeet Singh, National Record Holder Manpreet Kaur, Commonwealth Medallist Arpinder Singh and Junior World Champion Navjeet Kaur Dhillon were also honoured in the function.
Padmashri recipient Bahadur Singh and former Olympian Shakti Singh were special guests at the event. Bhupender Singh, head of ONGC Athletics Team and Asian Medallist, was another guest for the event. Several other officials from ONGC and several Indian athletes also attended the event which was conducted to mark the conclusion of the four day Shot-put and Kabaddi Cup held by the organisation.
