US Open Squash: Dipika Pallikal Crashes Out

India’s hopes of winning a major Squash tournament ended when Dipika Pallikal crashed out of the US Open Squash tournament.

Dipika faced off against Egypt’s Abdel Omneya Kawy in the quarter finals and was comfortably beaten. Dipika was having a solid tournament till then as she had earlier defeated the likes of Alison Waters and Joelle King to enter the Quarter Finals.

Elsewhere, Kawy was also the one who knocked out Joshna Chinappa from the event. Kawy will now face the winner of the match between Nicol David and Laura Massaro in the Semi-finals. In the other Semi-final of the tournament, Camille Serme of France will face Nour Ei Tayeb of Egypt.

Dipikal Pallikal Stands Out In US Open Squash

Dipika Pallikal reaching the quarter final was the best performance by an Indian in the US Open Squash. Apart from her, Joshna Chinappa reached the round of 16 but was defeated by Abdel Omneya Kawy. In the Men’s Draw, Sourav Ghosal was the sole representative for India. Ghosal, however, failed to progress past the first match and was beaten by Gregory Gaultier of France. Gaultier is all set to face Mohaed Elshorbagy in the Men’s finals next.
