The Indian cricket team has had its fair share of legends and Anil Kumble is a deserving member of that list. The ace Indian leg-spinner had a career that spanned almost two decades. He has 132 test caps, 271 ODI caps and a total wicket tally of nearly 1000 considering both the formats of the game.
After his debut back in 1990, Anil Kumble’s career graph has always been in the upward direction. In a country where batsmen were worshipped, Kumble stood out and earned respect in style. He was crucial in a plethora of wins for India and the most memorable performance came when he took all 10 wickets in an innings against Pakistan. He was only the second bowler to achieve the same. It was rated by Wisden as the second best bowling performance in the history of cricket.
Kumble has proven his worth with the bat as well having scored a hundred and five fifties in tests. After an illustrious career with the Indian team, Kumble retired from International cricket in 2008. He did spend another two years with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. He has been around the cricketing scene even after his retirement and is currently imparting his knowledge to the younger generation.
