Indian shooter Mohammed Asab won bronze medal in the double trap men’s event of ISSF Shooting World Cup being held in Nicosia, Cyprus.
Asab defeated Tim Kneale of Great Britain in the bronze medal playoff with a perfect score of 30 from the available 30. Kneale could only manage to score 27 in the match. Great Britain, however, had some reason to cheer when Steve Scott went on to win the Gold medal. He had a score of 27 compared to 25 of Qiang Pan of China, who won the silver.
Asab impresses in the ISSF World Cup
Earlier in the semi-final stage, Asab had impressed with a score of 28 from the possible 30. He was just one point away from making it into the gold medal playoff. Asab had qualified into the semi-finals with a score of 135 which was a solid performance as well.
The medal is sure to raise his confidence in the longer run and would serve as a great boost for the Olympics preparations. None of the other Indians were in action for the first two days of the ISSF World Cup.
