Indian Golfer Anirban Lahiri had a solid show in the third round of CIMB Classic Golf tournament.
Anirban Lahiri moves up to 16th
Lahiri, who was tied for 21st heading into the third round, produced a five-under 67 and climbed to 16th in the standings. Lahiri managed to come out with four birdies in the last five holes but also had three bogeys through the round. After rounds of 70,67 and 67, Lahiri now has a total of 12-under 204 which is eight shots behind the current leaders Justin Thomas and Brendan Steele.
“I would have liked to be in a better position but having started weak (with a 70), I think this is not a bad place to be. I feel like I’m playing well so hopefully I can get a really deep round. My energy level is surprisingly good,” Lahiri said.
Lahiri added that he will have to perform better in the next round to take something out of the tournament.
“I don’t think a 67 is going to gain much ground. I’m going to have to make as many or more birdies tomorrow and try and keep a clean card,” he added.
Meanwhile, SSP Chawrasia had a forgettable 74 in the third round. He had three bogeys and one birdie in the round and is currently tied for 74th in the standings.
